The First Port
on the Humber 

Port of Grimsby East has evolved from a former world-leading deep-water fishing port to the foundations of an offshore wind operations and maintenance centre of excellence.

Opened in three phases as Grimsby Fish Docks in the mid to late 19th century, it has ensured the town has enjoyed a huge maritime presence for more than 170 years, with activity peaking at a 500-strong fishing fleet renowned around the globe.  

​

Now crew transfer vessels are the most frequent users of the strategically reclaimed dock complex, with seasonal highs of 50-plus craft sailing daily to the many hundreds of turbines in the near North Sea. 

​

Urgency of response, locational advantage and a can-do attitude based on the understanding of the vital importance of being ready to sail with the next tide, has ensured Grimsby is highly regarded by all who need it.

Port of Grimsby East now provides dedicated operations and maintenance bases, 24/7 access from land and sea, office suites, covered and open storage facilities, bespoke pontoon and berthing opportunities and a marine co-ordination service.

It is also home to sister business units excelling in training and vessel maintenance and inspection, OTC Grimsby and Grimsby Shipyard Services.

Central to major road and rail networks, close to the town centre and other vital business amenities, Port of Grimsby East also offers ample quayside space and mooring, bunkers, power, water and stores, with negotiable arrangements welcome.

While the primary use of the port has changed, near shore fishing, shellfish landings and the iconic Grimsby Fish Market operations remain thriving daily businesses, with the Humber Cruising Association introducing seaborne leisure to the mix.
